History of Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon
The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is a community-based event, encouraging Kiwi Kids between the ages of
7 and 15 of all sporting abilities to participate.
Every young Kiwi grows up with a dream of holding
their hands up in triumph and being presented with a winner's medal. The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon had
made that dream a reality for many, by awarding over 200,000 medals to Kiwi kids since 1993.
Something that we can all be really proud of is that the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon has become the
world's largest sporting event for kids.
Since its creation in 1992, the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon has grown from a single event at St Heliers with
500 children, to twelve annual events throughout New Zealand.
In 2009, the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon attracted over 19,000 participants, making it the world's largest
sporting event for kids (as certified by the International Triathlon Union).
With a focus on giving it a go and doing your best, the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon celebrates kids'
achievements and helps share Sanitarium's passion for promoting active, healthy lifestyles.
