Weet-Bix guy has been enthusiastically helping kids finish every Weet-Bix Tryathlon for many years. Running with kids as they come up to the finish line, he runs about 10km each event. Look out for his blog posts about how to prepare for your own Weet-Bix Tryathlon, and news from this year’s events.

All Done!

So we're all done for another year of Weet-Bix Tryathlon! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. After the last event in New Plymouth on Wednesday 31st March I took a bit of time out to relax and unwind by taking in some of the sights around the central North Island - boy we're lucky to live in such a beautiful country!! * The team at Weet-Bix have already started thinking about next year's Tryathlon series - it will be the 20th anniversary of the event, and I'm sure it will be a series to remember. There's no reason why you guys can't start thinking about next year either! Why don't you encourage your friends and family to get involved in next years Tryathlon too, and remember if cost is a barrier for someone you know from getting involved with the Weet-Bix Tryathlon then visit the "WEET-BIX TRYATHLON FOUNDATION" page of this website. The Weet-Bix Tryathlon Foundation has been established by Sanitarium staff to enable even more children to take part in the Weet-Bix Tryathlon. The Foundation does this by providing worthy nominees with a subsidy or complete funding of entry fees to the Weet-Bix Tryathlon event, or via the subsidy of necessary equipment. * You know one thing that I think is really cool during the year is to see you kiwi kids out and about wearing your Tryathlon T-shirts whether you're going for a run, out training on your bikes, or just being outside and being active. So stay fit, healthy & happy, and congratulations again for 'Going For Gold' at this years tryathlon!

Half Way There!!

Wow - 6 Tryathlons down, and 6 to go in the 2010 Tryathlon season!

I'm feeling a bit bad for not updating my bloggs more often, the time seems to have flown since we started the first event in Wellington, then Hamilton, Hastings, St Heliers, Nelson, and last weekend in Dunedin!  Congratulations to everyone who has already taken part in a Tryathlon at one of these events, so far they have all been great - and importantly, aside from a few cuts and scrapes, everyone has stayed safe and well!

If your event is still to come then keep up the training so you can give it your best!  Aside from staying fit and active all year round I find it really important to make sure I'm eating really well, and getting plenty to drink in the couple of days before a Tryathlon.  And getting a really good nights sleep the night before the event is a must.  On the big day of the race there's no better way to get started then on a generous serving of your favorite breakfast (which is obviously Weet-Bix - right?).

OK so this coming weekend Tryathlon is in Christchurch - if you haven't already registered for the event then just flick over to the "REGISTER NOW" page of this website and fill out your details (you'll most likely need an adult to help with this) so you don't miss out!  We can also get you signed up on the day for an event (so long as the event's not full from all the online registrations) - either way I'm looking forward to seeing you guys there!

Make sure you come and say "Hi" to me it would be great to meet you!

Getting Ready

Hey kids! It’s exciting to be getting ready for another Weet-Bix Tryathlon series. I can’t wait to see you all at the next Weet-Bix Tryathlon event, and I hope that you are all eating your Weet-Bix and training hard. The Wellington event last weekend was great, and all the kids were so excited to be there. Some of them even beat me to the finish line!

Hamilton is coming up this weekend and it’s going to be an amazing experience. Remember to register, entries close midday Friday, although you can also register on the day for a small extra fee. I like to get there early so I can get everything organised. If I were you I’d get there early too, so I could pick up my race-pack and put my bike into transition along with my t-shirt and my helmet. It really helps to be organised about things like that.

See you there Hamilton kids!
